The Salt Lake City Redevelopment Agency Board approved a compromise plan Thursday that will allow the second phase of Artspace's Bridges project to move forward.
Originally, the RDA had required Artspace to build a parking structure along 200 South, which forms the northern border of Bridges between 500 and 600 West.
However, Artspace can no longer afford to build the parking structure. But it did develop a plan that would provide nearly as many parking spaces and has apparently obtained funding for that plan.
"It may be a little different than we anticipate, but it still meets the requirement," RDA board member Dave Buhler said. "It's very little for us to give up, and we should go ahead and do it."
The Bridges project is largely a non-profit housing venture, designed to provide condominiums for moderate-income people, increasing the number of residents near the downtown area.
