Patrick Byrne, chairman and chief executive officer of Salt Lake-based Overstock.com, will be honored Wednesday as MountainWest Venture Group's 2004 Entrepreneur of the Year.

The award, in its 19th year, honors a local entrepreneur who has remained personally involved in the organization, inspired others to contribute personal and professional finances and risk, and returned significant new wealth to individuals invested in the venture.

Byrne will share his business expertise as the keynote speaker for the award luncheon, which will be held in conjunction with the annual convention of the Wayne Brown Institute, a nonprofit organization that offers training to young companies that have embarked on corporate ventures.

The luncheon will be at the Marriott City Center, 220 S. State. Networking begins at 11:30 a.m., with the lunch at noon.

The cost is $25 for non-members. Reservations can be made by calling 1-801-966-1430 or by e-mailing info@mwvg.org.

Overstock.com is an online closeout retailer. The company went public in 2002.
