PLEASANT GROVE It wasn't quite the David vs. Goliath show Tuesday night at the Pleasant Grove High gym, but it was close.
The Vikings big front line led them to an early lead against Mountain View and kept them in the game until late, when the Bruins little guys put the dagger in the Vikings' hearts with a barrage of second-half 3-pointers. Senior Nate Allman's long bomb with just over two minutes remaining, a shot that gave Mountain View the lead for good, was the real killer in the Bruins' 65-61 win.
"I told coach that I feel really good in this gym," Allman said. "I just love it here. I always seem to shoot well at this place."
On a night when the Bruins big guys couldn't find a lot of good shots, Allman and his backcourt sidekicks came through and carried most of the load. Leading scorer Danny Johnson struggled to drop in 10 points, but Allman made up for it by scoring 27 which included three 3-pointers and a perfect 10 for 10 from the foul line. The senior playmaker was wicked at driving to the hoop and drawing fouls or getting off a shot over a taller defender.

"I saw a few openings and took them. I got really confident in the second half," Allman said.
Bruins guard Michael Blake also tossed in two threes, and reserve A.J. Millett swished home a couple himself.
"They're a huge lineup," Bruins coach Jason Young said. "But when they collapsed their defense it really opened things up outside for us."
The Vikings jumped out to an 18-11 lead. Fifteen of those early points came in the paint as the Vikings attacked the hoop and controlled the offensive glass. Forward Chad Evans was doing it all in the opening minutes, scoring six of Pleasant Grove's first eight points. He finished with 15 points and had double-digits in rebounding.
Mountain View scratched back to 18-15 at the end of the quarter thanks to two late put-back baskets by Abe King. That was the start of a Bruins' 11-0 run that would see them take a 22-18 lead.
