Dead can reject baptism

In the recent article by Gary Mokotoff, the comment was made that a noted figure in Jewish history "was posthumously baptized into the Mormon faith." The doctrine of baptism for the dead is based on the principle that the deceased have freedom to accept or reject the baptism. There is no force or coercion involved. The opportunity is given for them to do what they will. Who better to decide such an issue than the actual individuals involved? If baptism for the dead is a foolish, insulting thing, they, from their unique position, will make that judgment and decide accordingly. I feel they should be afforded that opportunity.
