A search continued Friday for a young Cedar City jogger missing since Wednesday afternoon.
Jason Edwards, 18, who was wearing black shorts and a black tank top, went jogging with his younger sister, Jennifer, around the block about 11 a.m.The youth, who was to graduate Thursday night and then leave on a trip to California with other Cedar High School students, told his sister he would continue jogging a little while longer. The sister, about 8, became tired and went home. When he did not return Wednesday night, a search was organized.
Iron County Sheriff Ira Schoppman said dozens of people, including many students and specially trained dogs, joined the search on foot and horseback in the foothills east of Cedar City. Civil Air Patrol planes also joined the operation, which was to be expanded Friday, Schoppman said.
Schoppman said he understands that Edwards, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Edwards, enjoyed going into the nearby mountains, an area with some fairly rugged cliffs, and looking out over the city.
