- Stay away from downed lines and trees in power lines. Report outages and dangerous conditions to 1-877-548-3768.
- Do not try to extract tree branches from power lines.
- Exercise caution when using candles or other flames for light or heat.
- Keep flashlights, batteries, water, non-perishable food, blankets and a cell phone handy in case of an outage.
- Turn on your front porch light so personnel can readily tell when your power is back on. Also, turn off lights and appliances to reduce system demand when power initially comes back on.
- For extended outages keep refrigerators and freezers closed as much as possible.
- Check elderly or frail neighbors and relatives who might be in need during an outage.
- To report emergency situations dial 911.
