As grandparents we have a long-standing tradition of taking our small grandchildren to the city for breakfast and a visit with Santa Claus. This is an adventure for the children and is much anticipated. It includes a ride on TRAX that is very exciting for the little children.
This year we made our annual trip and, as usual, the kids were very excited to see Santa. We arrived at the Crossroads mall and went to see Santa. Much to the disappointment of the children, we were told that Santa was not at Crossroads this year but that he was at the ZCMI mall. Across the street we went only to find that there was no Santa at all on Tuesday and that other days he was only there after 5 p.m.
It is no wonder that downtown is in trouble when even Santa Claus has given up on downtown. Perhaps Rocky Anderson has some pull at the North Pole. Otherwise we will take out grandkids to South Towne, where Santa resides full time during the Christmas season.
