Calgary scored six runs in the third inning and Marty Martinez hit a two-run homer in the fourth in a 12-6 victory over Salt Lake in a Pacific Coast League game Thursday night.
The Cannons ended a seven-game losing streak at home.Scott Aldred (0-2), making his second start with the Buzz after being sent down by Minnesota, was the victim of Calgary's six-run third. In 42/3 innings, Aldred allowed 11 runs on 10 hits.
Curt Schmidt (1-0) earned the victory with 12/3 innings of one-hit relief.
The Cannons got a two-run double from Adrian Brown in the fourth. Tim Edge added a two-run double and Billy Lott had three hits for Calgary.
Chad Rupp hit a two-run homer for Salt Lake and Brent Brede had a three-run double. Chris Latham had four hits for the Buzz.
The Buzz begin a four-game homestand with Edmonton today.
