PROVO The Utah County Commission drew lots Tuesday to determine which position on the Nebo School Board will be a two-year seat for one election cycle.
Drawing from a hat, commissioner Gary Herbert selected District 2. Whoever wins the 2004 election in District 2 will serve two years. The position will then revert to a four-year seat.
The shortened term is necessary to provide balance in school board elections after Nebo increased its board membership from five to seven.
