Bonnie: I love hot sauce and I love lime. So what's not to love about this new chili-lime hot sauce? Absolutely nothing. This sauce also contains a hint of cumin, another one of my favorites. When it comes to seasoning Southwestern foods, Frank's RedHot Chile 'n Lime has just pushed my former favorites, Tabasco and regular Frank's RedHot, into second place.
Carolyn: Lime dominates the taste of Frank's RedHot Chile 'n Lime, and rightly so, given the name. What's more significant is that RedHot Chile 'n Lime is nowhere near as hot as regular Frank's. That means that you won't burn your mouth with just one or two drops. It also means you're going to use this bottle up lots faster than regular Frank's and Tabasco (i.e., sooner than forever).
Prego Hearty Meat Sauces. Meatball Parmesan, Classic Meat With Fresh Mushrooms and Authentic Italian Sausage. $2.99 per 27.5-ounce jar.
Bonnie: Meat is the most popular thing people add to jarred pasta sauce after herbs and spices. Prego Hearty Meat Sauces save you that trouble. They contain a half-pound (pre-cooked weight) of meatballs, Italian sausage or ground beef (with mushrooms).
Nutritionally, Hearty Meat Sauces probably contain less fat and fewer calories than homemade because most folks would use more than a half-pound of meat for six people. Ragu's Rich & Meaty sauces also have a half-pound of meat, but they're not as sweet. Sweetness in pasta sauces is typical of Prego, but it's not for me.
Carolyn: Sweet pasta sauces may not be for Bonnie, but they are for me. That could be why I prefer Prego over Ragu, and that includes preferring Prego's Hearty Meat Sauces to Ragu's Rich & Meaty.
At the same time, I must say that pasta and sauce is one main course dish that tastes good even without meat (and costs less that way). That's why I'd be more likely to buy regular Prego with just mushrooms than any of these. (If you're cooking for a crowd that demands meat, try throwing a packet of Boca Ground Burger crumbles into some plain Prego. Most people won't know the difference.)
