Utah Catholics honored The Most Rev. William K. Weigand, bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Salt Lake City, at a Sunday afternoon Mass in the Cathedral of the Madeleine to celebrate his 25 years in the priesthood.
Weigand was ordained to the priesthood on May 25, 1963, at St. Mary's Church in St. Maries, Idaho. He was ordained as the seventh bishop of the Diocese of Salt Lake City in 1980.The Most Rev. Joseph Lennox Federal, retired bishop of the Diocese of Salt Lake City, the Most Rev. Lawrence Welsh, bishop of Spokane, Wash., and Alice Weigand, the bishop's mother, attended the Mass.
