The Utah Republican Hispanic Assembly will hold a general assembly meeting today with the goal of getting more Hispanics involved in the political and legislative process.
Utah Attorney General Mark Shurtleff and Sen. James Evans, R-Rose Park, will address the need for more Hispanic involvement.
With the legislation that will be impacting the Hispanic community in the upcoming session, leaders need to engage and train the community to understand that they can make a difference through getting involved in the political process, said Marco Diaz, state chairman of the Utah Republican Hispanic Assembly.
Members will also be working to identify strong Hispanic candidates to run for elective office.
The meeting will be at 10 a.m. at the Utah Republican Party Headquarters, 117 E. South Temple. Everyone is welcome.
