A Salt Lake woman has been charged with shooting her husband during an argument at the couple's Avenues residence over the weekend.
The couple was arguing Saturday at their house near 900 East and 18th Avenue when the woman, 47, pointed a gun at her husband, according to charges filed Thursday in 3rd District Court.
When the man asked his wife what she was doing, she replied, "I'm going to shoot you," charges state. The man grabbed the gun and struggled with his wife. During the scuffle, the gun went off, hitting the man in the hand.
The man picked up the telephone to call police and found the couple's 11-year-old daughter already speaking with authorities, charges state.
During an interview with police, the man's wife said her husband had been yelling at her in their bedroom, according to the charges. When her husband left the room, she loaded a gun and followed him, charges state.
The woman was charged with aggravated assault and child abuse, both third-degree felonies.
