Beyond that restructuring, Anderson said he is committed to many of his pet projects, including redeveloping Pioneer Park, expanding his YouthCity program, lowering the city's greenhouse-gas emissions, preserving open space, pushing economic development downtown, pressing for mass transit, turning the old Utah Theater on Main Street into a 2,800-seat playhouse and bringing retail to the west side.

"We think there's a good market for (west-side retail), and we will redouble our efforts to bring major retail to that area," he said.

The mayor also said he is committed to helping raise the matching funds needed to complete two propositions voters approved Tuesday — the Leonardo project and the sports complex — which will need $10 million and $7.5 million, respectively, to be completed.

As he did during his first term, Anderson will keep his campaign committee open, leaving the possibility that he will run for a third term — though he said he is undecided at this point.

On the personal side, Anderson, a bachelor for several years now, is working on his 3-month-old relationship with Tracy Lyon. Asked if there were wedding bells in his future, Anderson paused, then said, "I don't know."
