Call goes out for Subs for Santa
Sub for Santa is a Christmas assistance program designed to match sponsors with families in need. Families who receive donations have applied for assistance through the United Way of Utah County and qualified for assistance.
Volunteers select shifts during November and first week in December on Wednesday through Friday from 5 through 9 p.m. There are three shifts on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Initial training will take place Tuesdays at 6 and 9 p.m. Nov. 4, 11, and 18 for one hour.
Other volunteer opportunities in Utah County include:
- Entertain people with disabilities. The Utah State Developmental Center needs groups of volunteers to provide entertainment for residents. Options for entertainment include putting on a musical, drama or variety program. Volunteers may also help with Tuesday or Wednesday night dances.Story continues below
- Help beautify the Orem city. The city of Orem is seeking assistance form community members to organize service groups, large or small, in order to help with various projects. Volunteers are needed to paint the outside and inside of a park restroom. Materials will be provided. Another project for volunteers is to plant flower bulbs at a new park.
