HOOPER, Weber County — The new $200,000 Hooper Civic Center was dedicated last week.

"We're really proud to have this building for our community residents, provide a home for our civic government and dedicate a portion of the facility as a senior center," Mayor Durk Bailey said.

The 5,465-square-foot building also features a council meeting room, city offices and outdoor restrooms that serve the adjoining municipal park.

Construction was funded without a bond, an accomplishment the mayor attributed to the careful fiscal management of the volunteer council that has served since the residents voted to become a city three years ago.

"We've been really fortunate to have volunteers serve the residents in a responsible manner, and we've been able to do it without imposing property taxes," Bailey said.
