Historic military vehicles, Civil War re-enactors, gun demonstrations and history lectures will be among activities at Fort Douglas Founders Day today.
The military museum at the fort will celebrate the 141st anniversary of its founding, with other activities including self-guided tours of the old fort buildings.
A morning symposium will discuss the Utah artillery in the Philippines during the Spanish-American War era, the Kearns Army Air Base and the Army Air Corps in Utah.
A band concert at 4 and a 6 p.m. dinner will cap off the day's activities. During the dinner, historian A. Kent Powell will speak on, "The German POW Experience in Utah."
Registration for the symposium is $5, while cost for the dinner is $25. All other events are free.
