UTAH'S MEDIA SUPPORT THE ARTS

Four years ago, our family moved to Salt Lake City from the Northwest. We moved to get away from the rain and start a new professional choir. Very few people in Utah knew who we were, let alone anything about us.

A few months after getting settled, it was time to put the word out about auditions for Gloriana. Coming from an area where the media had very little regard for the arts, I was surprised when radio and television stations along with local newspapers not only wanted to announce our auditions but have me on the air and in newspaper articles to help spread the word.Gene Pack of KUER had me on for a five minute interview; Lance Gudmundsen of the Salt Lake Tribune interviewed Karen and me; KUTV, KSL and KBYU had me on air; and the Deseret News wrote a very nice article. Since then KSTU and KUED have had me on air as well. Over the course of the past three years, all of these organizations have had Gloriana on air, interviewed us, announced our concerts and reviewed our performances.

During this time I have been very aware that these organizations are extremely gracious to the arts and support our many concerts and events. On behalf of Gloriana, our patrons and board, I want to thank KUED, KUER, KBYU, KUTV, KSL, KSTU, The Salt Lake Tribune, the Deseret News, The Daily Herald, the Park City Record and all the radio and television stations and newspapers that continue to support the arts by helping us promote our performances and special events. Regardless of the quality of an art organization, we could not exist without the support of the local media. Because of you, we have one of the strongest art communities in this country.
