Many ways to help others

The Road Home: Donations of the following are needed: blankets, sleeping bags, socks, winter clothing, coats, diapers and pull-ups.
Salt Lake County Aging Services: Needs an ombudsman a person to advocate and be a voice for seniors living in long-term care facilities. Training provided.
Salt Lake County Youth Services: Teach beginning piano, cooking, crafts and employment skills classes to teenagers. Volunteers must be 18 or older, pass a background check and attend orientation.
Salt Lake Regional Medical Center: Greet and direct visitors at the information desk, help in surgery waiting room, the recovery room and short-stay surgery. Office help also needed.
Salvation Army: Help make sandwiches for the homeless or working poor, as well as sort donations of food and clothing.
Senior Transportation: Need drivers age 21 or older to provide transportation for seniors to health-related or other essential appointments. Mileage reimbursement available.
South Valley Sanctuary: Needs donations of pasta and spaghetti sauce, macaroni and cheese, jarred baby food, bath towels, dish towels, diapers, batteries, phone cards and new or used suitcases.
Volunteers of America: Licensed dietitian needed a few hours every three months to plan healthy meals for formerly homeless clients.
