A former bishop of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will go to trial on allegations that he sexually abused a 13-year-old girl.
Spencer Dixon appeared briefly in 3rd District Court on Monday for a pretrial hearing. Prosecutors and defense attorneys had tried to reach a plea agreement in the case but confirmed Monday that an Oct. 22 trial will begin as planned.
If convicted of the first-degree felony charge of aggravated sexual abuse of a child, Dixon could face a possible life sentence in prison.
