For the second straight week, fans lined the top of the Rice-Eccles Stadium to see the Utes face a Pac-10 team. While the attendance number was just short of a sellout, but at 44,676 was the sixth largest in stadium history.

This time the U. didn't hand out several thousand free tickets although $5 tickets were available to fans who attended the Cal game.

Lines were long all week at the new ticket office southwest of the stadium, and 90 minutes before the game, signs at the ticket office indicated no general admission or student tickets were left.

The biggest indicator that Utah football has arrived? People walking around the outside of the stadium, holding up two fingers and saying, "I need two, anybody got two?"

REVENGE FOR WARREN: Ute receiver Paris Warren, who played two years at Oregon before transferring to Utah, got himself in a little trouble with his coach for some trash talk about his old school earlier in the week.

Warren might have done some trash talking on the field and he was able to back it up.

Warren wanted to have a great game against his old teammates and succeeded for the most part, finishing with 10 catches for 54 yards, rushing for 32 yards and returning a punt for seven yards.

UNIFORMITY: Oregon received some bashing by the media for its garish yellow road uniforms with green trim, which they wore for the opening game at Mississippi State. They also have gaudy home uniforms that almost half green, half yellow that made the cover of Sports Illustrated last week.

According to Oregon marketing director Greg Graziano, they want uniforms that people notice.

"The goal is to brand this team and the university's athletic department nationally," he said. "You watch a game and if you see some lightning yellow uniforms, you know who is playing."

However, thankfully for the eyes of the Rice-Eccles crowd, the Ducks wore their boring white road uniforms, which are so plain they have no stripes and just green numbers and names.

SERIES HISTORY: Coming into the game, Oregon held a 17-7 edge over Utah in the series that dates back to 1933. The last time Utah beat Oregon was in 1994 when the Utes captured a 34-16 victory in Eugene. The last win in Salt Lake City was in 1991 when Utah jumped out to a 21-0 lead and held on to win 24-17. Since 1994, the Ducks have won three times, in 1995 in Salt Lake City and in 1997 and 2001 in Eugene.
