Utah wide receiver Larry Miles has quit the team. The senior, who started in season-opening games against Utah State and Texas A&M, did not practice Tuesday or Wednesday and was reportedly awaiting punishment from head coach Urban Meyer for a "selfish" act. Additional details were not disclosed, but a sports information department official confirmed the departure and said it did not involve any legal issues.

Miles saw action in Utah's first four games this season — catching three passes for 25 yards and a touchdown. He lost his starting job at Z-receiver to Travis LaTendresse when the Utes defeated California and Colorado State.

Miles came to Utah from Mesa Junior College in San Diego. In 2002 — his first and only complete season with the Utes — he caught five passes for 73 yards over nine games.
