Art canvass

  • The South Branch Library, 725 S. Main in Bountiful, will host a slide lecture by National Geographic photographer Jodi Cobb on Monday, Oct. 6, at 7 p.m. Cobb is the first woman to be awarded the "White House Photographer of the Year." A member of the magazine staff since 1977, Cobb will discuss the new publication, "Through the Lens: National Geographic Greatest Photographs."

    The book is on sale at all book stores. Admission is free, but seating is limited. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.

  • Salt Lake artist Cordell Taylor is completing his downtown cityscape sculpture, "Order to Chaos," (painted fabricated steel) in the median island on 400 S. between Pierpont Ave. and 300 South, near Pioneer Park. The sculpture reflects the history of the community and character of the immediate neighborhood.

  • UtahArtistHands will host Hopi potter Dee Johnson Setalla at its gallery on Saturday from 2-6 p.m. Setalla will be doing demonstrations and discussing the history of traditional pottery methods. For more information call 355-0206.

  • The Springville Museum of Art announces a call for entries for its 18th Annual Religious & Spiritual Art of Utah exhibition. Artwork must be received at the museum between Oct. 21 and 25
