The Utah Department of Corrections is investigating a sexual assault at the state prison in Draper.
On July 7, an inmate told prison officials he was assaulted by his cellmate, a search warrant affidavit filed Wednesday in 3rd District Court states. The cellmate allegedly made the inmate perform a sex act. When the inmate refused, he was beaten in the face. The cellmate then performed a sex act on the inmate.
The inmate was examined by a nurse. He had trauma to his face and body, the affidavit said.
Investigators obtained a swabbing from the inmate. On Sept. 3, they sought permission to obtain a DNA sample from the inmate, the affidavit said.
The court granted permission to obtain a DNA sample, according to the affidavit, but the Department of Corrections is not commenting on whether the DNA has been tested or what the test results were.
