Y. professor to talk on Asia male surplus

PROVO — A Brigham Young University political science professor will speak about Asia's male surplus problem on Wednesday, Sept. 17, at noon in 238 Herald R. Clark Building on the Brigham Young University campus.

Valerie Hudson will discuss her research during a lecture titled "Bare Branches: Security Implications of Asia's Surplus Male Population" as part of the International Forum Series hosted by the David M. Kennedy Center for International Studies.

Hudson's lecture will focus on the ramifications for societies in which birth trends and constraints cause a population to place emphasis on producing male children.
