KSL Ch. 5 has hired Kerry Barrett, a reporter-anchor at KNXV, the ABC affiliate in Phoenix, as the station's new morning and noon co-anchor. She'll begin her on-air duties Oct. 6.

According to Brink Chipman, vice president of news services at KSL, Barrett is a new addition to the staff and will not be replacing anyone. She'll be paired with Scott Haws, who was recently added to the morning and noon lineup.

Chipman said Barrett's husband, John, is an F-16 pilot who was recently assigned to Hill Air Force Base.

"She started looking (for a new job) when she learned her husband was moving here," he said. "We're very pleased with her. She's an incredibly bright young woman, very natural, and with just a good, solid, journalistic mind."

Before moving to Phoenix, Barrett was the prime-time anchor (5, 6 and 10 p.m.) at KFDX, the NBC affiliate in Wichita Falls, Texas.

Over at Fox 13, longtime staffer Kerri Cronk has been named the new anchor of "Good Day Utah." She'll begin her new duties on Monday.

"Our 'Good Day Utah' viewers are in for a treat," said Renai Bodley, the station's vice president and news director.
