LAYTON "From the Ashes," a musical tribute to Utah victims of Sept. 11 and other heroes, will be staged at 7 p.m. Thursday at Northridge High.
In addition to Sept. 11 victims, the production honors military, police, firefighters and soldiers killed in the Iraq war. The production will be nominated for a Freedom Foundation Award. It is free to the public, but donations may be made to the building of a 9/11 memorial monument at Utah State University Botanical Center in Kaysville.
The production caps a week of "friendly competition" between Layton and Northridge high schools, which are participating in a combined service project to raise money for the monument.
