SPANISH FORK Folks who want a trail through the east bench's midsection may want to prod City Council members, City Planner Emil Pierson said on Tuesday.
Two large subdivisions are planned for the undeveloped area situated between two equestrian subdivisions. Alan Vincent had previously asked the City Council to consider studying the area that leads down to the Spanish Fork river bottoms as a potential horse and multi-use trail between the two subdivisions before developers purchased the land.
Council members seem generally favorable to the idea.
"We need a trail system somewhere," Councilman Roy Johns said.
Councilman Sherman Huff, who admitted growing up riding horses "until I got smart enough to get off," said such a project would require permission from area landowners, however.
"Let's look at the possibilities (and) do it the right way," Huff said.
Residents could petition for the study or the council could take the initiative, Pierson said.
