Rain nice but not enough

The sometimes-heavy rain that walloped parts of Utah over the weekend does not end the four-year drought.

"It was a nice rain . . . but it wasn't near enough rain to make up the deficit," said Larry Dunn, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service.

Salt Lake City soaked up 0.53 inches of precipitation since Thursday. Some parts of the state recorded more than 2 inches of rainfall during the weekend. In Logan, 1.1 inches fell in 45 minutes. Utah's capital was expected to dry out Monday, but forecasts called for some moisture Tuesday and Wednesday.
