Three historic events will be associated with the dedication of the Nauvoo Temple for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the church's 113th temple.

The actual temple dedication will take place in 13 closed sessions June 27-30.

Here are the three related events:

  • Time capsule ceremony — This ceremony will take place on the southeast corner of the temple at 8:30 a.m. Nauvoo time on Thursday, June 27. A time capsule will be placed behind a dated cornerstone by President Gordon B. Hinckley and other general authorities.

  • News conference— President Hinckley will respond to media questions at 10 a.m. Nauvoo time on Thursday at the temple entrance, or at the Joseph Smith Academy in case of inclement weather.

  • Mormon Tabernacle Choir Benefit Concert — Friday, June 28, at 8 p.m. Nauvoo time in the Morrison Theater of Quincy Junior High School, 14th and Maine, in Quincy, a town 45 miles south of Nauvoo. Presidency Hinckley will make some remarks, and proceeds will benefit the Quincy Area Community Foundation.
