A group of eighth-graders from Butler Middle School are the Utah Mathcounts champions for 1994.
Members of the team are Matt Curtis, Jacob Durrant, Spencer Lythgoe and Ashley Warner. Warner was the top individual scorer in the state competition. Their coach is Tom Burke.Second place was Canyon View Junior High School, Orem; third place was Mount Logan Middle School, Logan.
Utah's top four individual scorers will represent the state in national finals in Washington, D.C., in May. They are Warner, Kent Hansen and Brett Gilbert, Canyon View; and Darin Ragozzine, Pine View Middle School, St. George. Burke will coach the team.
