RAPE SUSPECT KILLS GIRL, 12, WOUNDS SELF
A man accused of raping his 12-year-old stepdaughter took the girl and her sister hostage in an attic, shooting to death the stepdaughter and wounding himself and the other child, police said.
The shootings occurred Thursday when officers attempted to arrest Emanuel Shoulders for the alleged rape, said police Sgt. Chip Pippen.Shoulders had apparently learned of the arrest warrant sworn out by his wife and picked up the girls at school, taking them to a brother-in-law's home, Pippen said. About a half-hour after police knocked on the door, they heard gunshots.
