Seagull Book & Tape, a 12-store chain operation selling books, tapes, compact disks, videos, computerized software and other related items at discount prices, had sales of $1.5 million in the last quarter of 1991, a 48 percent increase from the $1 million in sales in the same quarter of 1990.
Greg Kofford, president, said the Bountiful store had a 47 percent increase in sales in the quarter, The Redwood Road store showed a 14 percent increase and the Orem outlet had an 11 percent increase. Because of the increased sales, Kofford is planning to open more stores.The stores located at 1720 S. Redwood Road and the Ogden store have used book departments. These departments offer Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints books at reduced prices along with hard-to-find out-of-print LDS books, he said.
