A Sandy girl was shot and killed Thursday afternoon in the garage of a neighbor's home, said police.
Sheila Gillham, 11, daughter of Larry Gillham, 10637 S. Rembrandt Lane (70 East), suffered a gunshot wound to the head and was pronounced dead on arrival at Primary Children's Medical Center.It had not been determined Friday morning whether the shooting was accidental, said Sandy Police Sgt. Ed Kantor.
Kantor said the girl and a 9-year-old boy were in a garage at 97 E. Rembrandt Circle (10670 South) about 3:45 p.m. when the shooting occurred.
Police said the boy and his grandfather had been target shooting earlier Thursday with a .22-caliber rifle.
