DEATH: JESSE R. GRAY

Jesse Ralston Gray, 73, passed away August 31, 1991, in SaltLake City of cancer.

Jesse was born October 7, 1917 in Handley, Texas to James Homer Gray and Mabel Annabele Allen and was reared and educated in Kansas City, Missouri. He volunteered for the Civilian Conservation Corps and eventually had the opportunity to go to a camp in Ely, Nevada. He loved the mountains and the wide open spaces of the west.He served his country for 4 years in the Army Air Corps. He married Althea Jensen, January 20, 1943 in Salt Lake City; later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Jesse was an active member of the LDS Church and served in many capacities. He was employed by IML Freight as Supervisor of Taxation and Licensing, retiring in 1982. After his retirement he was a volunteer worker for the American Red Cross for 4 years and 5 years as the School Crossing Guard at Dilworth Elementary School. He donated many gallons of blood to The American Red Cross. He believed strongly in volunteering and service to his community and church.

He will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He enjoyed sports, music, reading, gardening and traveling.

Survivors include his wife and children, Rodney and Suzanne Gray, West Valley City; Janine and Keith Radley, Sandy; grandchildren, Jesse, Christopher, and Brian Gray; Kysa and Keith Radley; sisters, Marguerite Bell, Roscoe, Missouri; Lorene Shiell, Dallas, Texas; brother, James Homer Gray, Jr., St. Louis, Missouri; and hundred of adopted grandchildren from Dilworth Elementary School.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, 12 Noon, September 4,1991 at the Mountain View 2nd Ward Chapel, 1400 South 1900 East. Friends may call at the Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 South Highland Drive, on Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m. and at the church on Wednesday from 10:45-11:45 a.m. Interment, Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
