DALLAS (AP) A former Utah state trooper named a suspect in several Dallas-area roadway shootings has died.
Brian Smith died Wednesday night at a Dallas hospital.
The 37-year-old had been in critical condition from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Police say he shot himself in the head after a brief standoff early Tuesday, more than six hours after the roadway shooting spree ended.
Dallas police said they think Smith was responsible for at least one death that resulted from the shootings. They declined to comment on another death in neighboring Garland because it was outside their jurisdiction.
