KAYSVILLE (AP) Police and the FBI are investigating the release of nearly 7,000 mink from a Kaysville mink farm.
The release from Lodder's Mink Farm occurred early Sunday. Davis County sheriff's Lt. Brad Wilcox said all but about 1,000 of the animals were recovered.
Wilcox says it's unclear who broke into the farm to release the animals.
FBI special agent Juan Becerra said investigators haven't determined if those responsible are part of an extremist group called the Animal Liberation Front. The loosely organized group has a history of animal releases.
This is the second break-in and release from a Wasatch Front mink farm in the last month. On Aug. 19, 600 mink were released from a South Jordan farm.
