Duella Opal Jakeman 1919 ~ 2005 Duella Opal Jakeman passed away July 13, 2005 in her home of respiratory and congestive heart failure. At the time of her passing, she was under the watchful and loving care of her husband and hospice staff. Duella was born June 24, 1919 in Aurora, Utah, the last child of Ezra Artemus Stevens and Maud McDonald Stevens. She married John Kenneth Jakeman in Coalville, Utah on February 26, 1947 and later solemnized the marriage in the Salt Lake Temple. Duella had five children: Glenn Jakeman (Yakima, WA), Kenneth Jakeman (Murray, UT), and three from a previous marriage, Gloria (Hanks) Galloway (Saratoga Springs, UT), Larry Hanks (Ogden, UT), and Gregory Hanks (Aloha, OR). She also has 32 grandchildren, 65 plus great-grand-children, and one great-great-grand-daughter. Her parents, two older sisters Reva and Dicie and an older brother Don preceded her in death. Not only are her talents in the arts of music and painting renowned but she is also recognized for her abundant capacity to make others feel loved and appreciated. Scores of times has she walked up to a stranger, began a conversation and left making them feel better for having met her. We will sorely miss her. She and Dad served an LDS Mission to Adam-ondi-ahman, in Missouri. One of her paintings of Adam-ondi-ahman still hangs in the missionary meeting room. Services will be Saturday, July 16 2005 at 11:00 a.m. in the Garden Stake Center, 1028 West 1000 North, Pleasant Grove. Friends and family may call Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Olpin Family Mortuary, 494 South 300 East, Pleasant Grove and at the church on Saturday one hour prior to services.
