Vonnie Elizabeth Nichols 1925 ~ 2005 Vonnie Elizabeth Nichols passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, June 28, 2005. She was born in Los Angeles, California, January 17, 1925, to Robert C. Davis and Vonnie Bertha Burnett. A Master Teacher in the LA City School District for over 30 years, she received her M.Ed. from UCLA in 1974 and moved to Provo in 1989, after retirement, to be near her grown children. She treasured her membership in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in Primary and Relief Society presidencies, as a Sunday School teacher, and as a regular worker in the Provo Temple from the time she moved here. She was also an avid genealogist. She had many other loves: swimming, dancing, study, and travel. She knitted and crocheted, and otherwise encouraged and supported family and neighbors. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Lockey Elizabeth. She is survived by her sister Millie (Fred) Lange of Orem, son Jeff (Nick) W. Nichols III (Julie) of Provo, son Robert Burke Nichols (Annette) of Salt Lake City, daughter Victoria Lyn (Lance) Pierson of Etonville, WA; 14 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She will be sorely missed. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, July 5, 2005, at the Edgemont South Stake Center, 350 East 2950 North, Provo at 2:00 p.m. The family will receive friends and neighbors at 1:00. Graveside services were held at Provo's East Lawn Cemetery on June 29. In lieu of flowers, contributions to Primary Children's Hospital will be appreciated.
