1922 ~ 2004
On December 27, 2004, Dr. Dick made his final house call, passing peacefully at home surrounded by his adoring family.
Born to Franklin and Wilma Davis Wetzel on October 14, 1922, Dick grew up in Salt Lake City where he graduated from South High and the University of Utah Medical School.
Dick married his sweetheart Elizabeth Ann Keeler, in Tacoma, Washington. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. Dick established his pediatric practice in Salt Lake City, where he gave dedicated care to three generations of patients and gained respect from the medical community by serving on numerous boards. He delighted in his children and grandchildren. Dick served faithfully in all his church callings.
He will long be remembered for his wit, expert medical care, wisdom, compassion, boundless energy and that twinkle in his eye.
He is survived by his wife Elizabeth Ann (Betty) and children Pamela (Rob) Flygare, Laurie (Kent) Bowman, Jeffrey (Molly) Wetzel and Anne (Chris) Condie, 14 grandchildren, three great- grandchildren, and sister, Arda (Howard) Leatham.
The family expresses gratitude to Harmony Home Hospice, particularly the loving care given by Rudy, Kristen and Jess.
Funeral services will be held Monday, Jan. 3, 2005 at 12:00 Noon at the Monument Park Stake Center, 1320 Wasatch Blvd. Friends may call Sunday evening at Larkin Sunset Lawn, 2350 E. 1300 S. from 6-8 p.m. and prior to the service from10-11:30 a.m. at the stake center. Donations may be made to Primary Children's Medical Center in loving memory of Dick D. Wetzel.
