Cover the Jazz: We're reserving a seat for you

On Jan. 22, 2005 and again on April 1, 2005, Deseret Morning News Utah Jazz beat writer Tim Buckley has a seat reserved for you at the Delta Center on press row if you win the Deseret Morning News Cover a Game Contest. Those are the nights that a Deseret Morning News guest sports writer will get the chance to cover the Jazz vs. Memphis (18 years and older) and Jazz vs. Golden State (seventh through 11th grades) and have his/her story published in the next day's newspaper.

How to enter:

Entries in the annual Deseret Morning News Cover a Game Contest are now being accepted. This contest is open to two groups: those 18 years and older and seventh through 11th grades.

To enter, submit a sample sports story about any basketball game including the Utah Jazz, college or high school. Your story may be from a game you watch on TV or in person. Please write your story as though you were covering the game for the newspaper as their sports reporter.

Entries will be judged on detail, writing style, humor, conciseness and clarity. Entries must be no longer than 600 words in length.

Contest deadlines:

For 18 years and older — Jan. 17, 2005 at 5 p.m.

For 7th through 11th grades — March 18, 2005 at 5 p.m.

Winners names published in the Deseret Morning News on Jan. 20, 2005 (18 years and older) and March 30, 2005 (seventh through 11th grades). Please include name, address, e-mail, daytime and evening telephone numbers (seventh through 11th grades include parents name also).
