AMERICAN FORK A meth pipeline in Utah County was kinked Tuesday, police say.
A man and a woman were arrested Tuesday as part of a police probe into alleged methamphetamine production and distribution.
Mike Forshee, field director for Utah County's major crimes task force, said the two are part of a group of people the police have been investigating for a month and a half.
Officers said the arrests occurred after they stopped a vehicle at 50 E. 300 North. While inspecting the vehicle, officers found what appeared to be methamphetamine and the precursor chemical that is used in the manufacture of the drug.
Further investigation led officers to a house in the 341 North East Lane where they located what appeared to be a methamphetamine lab.
Officers said they also found 2 ounces of finished methamphetamine.
Street value: $5,500.
Forshee said the lab appeared capable of producing large amounts of methamphetamine that would then be distributed.
Forshee said the amount of the finished drug found at the site exceeded a typical user's amount and was considered intended for sale or distribution.
A 39-year-old man was booked into the Utah County jail for investigation of manufacturing a schedule I drug, possession of precursor chemicals, possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute and possession of drug paraphernalia.
A 39-year-old woman was booked for investigation of possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.
