1928 ~ 2004

Melba Johnson Skousen, 76, died July 2, 2004 in St. George, Utah.

She was born March 29, 1928 in McCornick, Utah to Eva Ruth Stephensen and Francis Wells Johnson. Early on, her family moved to Flowell where she lived until she graduated from Millard High School in 1946 and attended BYU. She married Don Baird Skousen on September 6, 1949 in the Manti Temple, and graduated from the "Y" in 1950.

She was a woman of deep faith and loved her pioneer heritage. Serving in the Primary was the best of all church callings. She loved learning, reading, debating, history, music, gardening and hiking. Traveling about the United States and Canada were close to her heart, but above all she loved her family, friends, and all of life.

She is preceded in death by her spouse, Don B. Skousen and daughter Eva S. Keller.

Her surviving family members are Don B. and Carol Skousen, Jr. (Salt Lake City); Myron J. and Julie Skousen (Afghanistan/Salt Lake City); Craig and Marianne Skousen (St George); Brent and Darlene Keller (El Cajon, CA); Mary A. Skousen (New London, CT). She dearly loved her 10 grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Carla (Gaylen), Brant (Michelle), Ben, Aaron, John, Stuart, Elizabeth, Marshall, Melea, Thomas, Cameron and Sydney.

Visiting her sisters, Agnes Johnson and Mary Anderson, and brothers Glade Johnson, Jed Johnson (Vilda), Dean Johnson (Nadine) and Kay Johnson (Joyce) was one of her favorite things to do.

The family wishes to express their appreciation to the aides, nurses and doctors at Dixie Regional Medical Center, St. George Care Center, and Southern Utah Home Care & Hospice.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 10, 2004 at 11:00 at the Winder 8th Ward at 1361 East 4000 South in Salt Lake City.

Friends may call Friday 6:30-8:00 at the Memorial Estates Mortuary at 5850 South 900 East and one hour prior to services at the Church.

Interment, in the Redwood Memorial Estates.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the General Missionary fund of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day-Saints or to Southern Utah Hospice.
