Scott C. Gillman
1961~2008
Our beloved son, brother, uncle and friend, Scott Clyde Gillman, passed away on Tuesday, February 12th as a result of an accidental fall at home. The sudden death of this tender and compassionate man leaves us with heavy hearts but profound gratitude for the gift of knowing and loving him.Scott was born on May 17, 1961 in Salt Lake City, the eagerly anticipated youngest child of Sterling and Virginia Gillman. He had an idyllic childhood surrounded by a loving family and wonderful friends. He graduated from Olympus High School where he was a varsity Cheerleader and a member of The National Honor Society. He later received his bachelor's degree from Utah State University in Computer Science. His professional career included employment with Martin Marietta in Denver, Colorado where he was named "Outstanding New Employee." Scott loved life. For him the glass was never half full, but overflowing. He cherished his family and was an eager participant in every family gathering. His friends were considered his brothers and he loved them dearly. He reserved his deepest love and respect for his magnificent parents with whom he lived. Their mutual affection and selfless service to each other has left us with a priceless example of unconditional love.
Scott is survived by his loving parents and two older siblings, Janet (Bill) Rowley of Murray, and Sterling (Margie) Gillman of Holladay. He will be sorely missed by his adoring nieces and nephews: Sean and Lisa Hatch, Paul and Cheryl Rowley, Spencer and Krystal Rowley, Chelsea Gillman, David, Liz, and Michael Rowley, and Elder Blake Rowley, currently serving an LDS mission in Ireland. He is also the proud great uncle of three nieces: Virginia, Madelyn, and Klara, and three nephews: William, Tanner, and Nathan.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 16th at 11:00 a.m. at the Valley View 8th ward on 4395 South Albright Drive. Friends may call on Saturday morning, one hour prior to the service (9:45 a.m. to 10:45 a.m.). Interment: Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park. "Good night, sweet prince. God be with you 'till we meet again."
