Marie A. VanOostendorp Nelson
1920 ~ 2008
Marie A. Nelson, 87, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Jan. 19, 2008 due to incidents of age.
She was born May 6, 1920 in Rotterdam, Holland to Bartel and
Katherine VanOostendorp. She immigrated to the United States with her family in 1928 after they became Latter-day Saints. She married
Marvin Leo Nelson in 1940 in the Salt Lake Temple. They had six
children.
Marie was a devoted Latter-day Saint. She was true and faithful to her husband, family and church to the very end. Marie was an accomplished organist and pianist. She enjoyed her church callings in music assignments. She enjoyed oil painting.
Marie was preceded in death by her husband, mother, father, sons David B. Nelson and Marvin Lee Nelson. She is survived by her children; Catherine L. Nelson,
Merrill L. (Linda Lou) Nelson, Donna Marie (John Paul) Ballif and Donald A. (Linda Lee) Nelson, 32 grand-children and several great-grand-children.
Viewing will be held at the Cannon Mortuary, 2460 Bengal Blvd. (7200 S), Salt Lake City, Utah on Thursday, Jan. 24 from 7-8 p.m. Graveside services will be Fri. January 25 at Meridian Cemetery, Meridian Idaho at 3 p.m.
