A backcountry skier was caught in an avalanche this afternoon between Brighton and Solitude Ski resorts.

The man suffered undisclosed traumatic injuries and was flown by medical helicopter to a local hospital. No other people were believed to be buried in the slide, said Salt Lake County Sheriff's Lt. Paul Jaroscak.

Few details of the avalanche or the victim were initially available Tuesday.

Despite the new large amount of new snow most Wasatch Front resorts received from Monday's strong storm, the avalanche danger today was only listed as "moderate" by the Utah Avalanche Center.
