Shirley May Gilstrap Anderson of Bluffdale passed away Christmas Eve, December 24, 2007, in Murray, Utah. She was born April 30, 1924 at Bird Woods Ranch in Custer County, Nebraska to John Kelso Gilstrap and Helen Gertrude Mason. The family moved to Colorado where her siblings John, Richard, and Lucylle were born. She was previously married and had one daughter, Janet Louise.

Shirley was a convert to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1952. On April 27, 1961, she married Moyal Anderson in the Salt Lake Temple. With that union she took on the responsibility of raising his eight children who became very dear to her.

She served faithfully in many Church callings including being an ordinance worker at the Jordan River Temple, a faithful visiting teacher, and a roadshow director. She was very active in the Daughters of Utah Pioneers and the Lions Club. She loved to dance, travel, and help Moyal in his real estate business. Mom was always looking for ways to help others and generously invited 24 people over the years to live in her home until they could get on their feet. She was always there for her children when they were in trouble or needed help. She also over the years reached out to many others in the community and provided support.

Her husband Moyal, and children Pamela and Stephen preceded her in death. Shirley is survived by her sister, Lucylle; and her children: Jan, Gregory, Jerome (Linda), Angie (Chris), Paula (Lee, deceased), Kathy (Quintin), and David (Sherry) Anderson, as well as two children-in-law, Kerry Coop and Millie Anderson. There are also 58 grandchildren, and 53 great-grandchildren at this time. She looked forward to the time she would be reunited with Moyal.

Family and friends are invited to a viewing Wednesday, January 2, 2008 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Goff Mortuary, 8090 S. State St., Midvale. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, January 3, 2008 at the Bluffdale LDS Chapel at 14400 South and 1700 West with viewing beginning at 10 a.m. Interment at the Bluffdale City Cemetery.
