Orlou G. Garrison

12/7/1906 ~ 11/5/2007

COLLEGE PLACE Orlou G.

Garrison, 100, died November 5, 2007, at Eagle Springs Specialty Care Community.

At her request, there will be no service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriner's Hospital through Mountain View-Colonial DeWitt, 1551 Dalles Military Road, Walla Walla, Washington 99362. Inurnment will be at a later date in the Larkin Memorial Cemetery, Salt Lake City, Utah.

Mrs. Garrison was born December 7, 1906, in Armour, South Dakota, to Henry F. and Ida Mae Chesmore Griesy. The family moved to Miles City, Montana, when she was a young girl. Orlou graduated from nursing school in Billings, Montana, in 1928. Shortly after graduation, she and Joseph M. Garrison married in Wyoming. They moved to Salt Lake City, Utah, where she spent her professional life in the healthcare field, teaching nursing and working as a surgical nurse in the offices of Doctors Brooke & Fitzpatrick. After retiring, she did private practice nursing, continuing her love of caring for people.

She loved to entertain her friends and was an excellent cook, loved dancing, music, and was very talented with needlepoint, embroidery, crafts and painting which she shared with her family and friends. She was a member of the Catholic Church in Salt Lake City.

Declining health forced her to give up those pleasures, and she moved to Washington to be near family.

She is survived by four nieces: Marilyn, Tracy, Holly and Emily Hewitt all of Walla Walla and a number of very dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and her only sibling, Jesse Griesy.
