Obituary: Dorothy Mae Halls Ellis

Dorothy Mae Halls Ellis Loving Mother Heaven and the angels rejoiced as a great and gentle spirit passed peacefully into her eternal glory on November 5, 2007.Born on September 18, 1923 to Nina Mae Carroll and Herbert Halls in Mancos, Colorado, the eldest of four children. Married Merrill W. Ellis, October 4, 1944, later divorced. Able to cheer for both teams earning her bachelor's from BYU and master's from the University of Utah. Loved English, reading, science, chemistry, physics, geology and math. Always knew the answers! Remembered by many as a great pianist for Primary, Relief Society, sacrament and other church meetings. Held many church callings and made friends wherever she was in the world. Served missions to England (two years) and North Carolina (18 months). Temple worker in the Portland Temple. Resided in Salt Lake City, and Kanab, UT; Lake Cushman and Vancouver, WA. Loved to garden and planted fruit trees in every yard she owned. Preceded in death by parents, sister, Florence, brother, Robert. Survived by sister Beth (Morris), five children, Barry, Alan (Geoff), Kent (Kelley), Sheree (Doug), Brian (Miriam), seven beautiful granddaughters and one great-granddaughter.

Services at Cottonwood 5th Ward, 5913 South Highland Dr., Salt Lake City, Utah on November 10, 2007 at 12 noon. Viewing at 10:30 am. Interment at Mountain View Memorial Cemetery.
