Just as he was prepared foreverything in life, so was he

prepared for death. Our husband and father penned this obituary two years prior to his death.

Everett Eric Dahl of Midvale, Utah, passed away on Friday, November 2, 2007, in his home.

He was born on June 21, 1923, in Crescent, Utah, the son of Eric

William and Annie Elisabeth Dahl. He was raised on a farm and a fruit orchard.

Ev married Anna Marie Kosovich on June 21, 1947. They were married by Chief Justice Pratt in the Utah

Supreme Court Chambers. Ev and Ann had two daughters, Annette and EvAnn.

Ev is predeceased by his parents and two brothers, Leo and Einar. He is survived by his wife, Ann, of 60 years, his daughters, Annette Dahl Wood Brailsford (Kevin) of Midvale; and EvAnn Dahl Weimer Hawley (Rick) of Harrisburg, PA; and three grandsons, Ben Wood, Morey Weimer, and Nicholas Weimer.

Ev graduated from Jordan High School in 1940, as its valedictorian. He then entered the University of Utah. He enlisted in the U.S. Army on April 5, 1942, in the Advanced ROTC Program. He was called to

active duty in May, 1943. He served statewide, in the Philippines, and in Japan until 1946. Following his

active military service, Ev re-entered the University of Utah. He graduated with a BS degree in Military Science in 1947, and then with a Juris

Doctorate degree (from the U of U Law School) in 1949. Ev was

admitted to the Utah State Bar on April 29, 1949, and practiced law for 58 years prior to his death. He was admitted to practice in the

United States Supreme Court and in the U.S. Military Court of Appeals.

Along with his law practice, Ev served in the Army Reserve. He was a Field Artillery commander, commander of the 162nd Support Group, and a USAR School

Commandant. He retired from the Army in 1975 as a full Colonel. He was subject to recall in case of a

national emergency and carried Pocket Orders of Assignment. Along with usual ribbons of service, he also received the Legion of Merit Medal.

Mr. Dahl was very active in

Veterans Affairs, having served as Department of Utah Commander and National Executive Committeeman for AM VETS. He was also a past president and national councilman of the Reserve Officers Association (ROA). He was a life member of VFW and also a vice-chairman of UMVAC (Utah Military Veteran

Affairs Committee).

Ev was Executive Secretary of the Midvale Chamber of Commerce for approximately 15 years. Utah Chambers of Commerce Association honored Mr. Dahl as the recipient of the 1992 Total Citizen Award.

In addition to the above, Mr. Dahl was the Mayor of Midvale City from 1986 through 1994.

Ev was proud and answered to three names - Lawyer, Colonel, and Mayor. To his family, he was

husband, Daddy, and Gramps.

Funeral services will be held Wed. November 7, 2007, at 1 p.m at Goff Mortuary (8090 S. State Street), where family and friends may call Tuesday, November 6th from 6-8 p.m. and Wednesday from 11:45-12:45 p.m. prior to the services. Burial will be in the Midvale City Cemetery.
